Own a REAL Home Based
Business
Create a Unique Feel
Good
Product Loved by Parents
For Sale:
Keep The Moment is a home based business that
crafts Baby Print and Paw Print kits for retail sale
over the internet in Canada/USA and for wholesale to
parenting and gift stores across Canada.
Includes exclusive Canadian license rights, intellectual
property, basic website, required equipment and
substantial inventory.
Seeking
a motivated, creative person who is enthusiastic
about this product and can see the potential of this in
stores all across Canada.
Hello
My name is Martin, the owner of Keep The
Moment LTD.
I am a Computer Engineer by trade, but in 2004 I was
looking for a change. During Christmas that year I
travelled to New Zealand to visit family. There I
met an old friend who, as a stay at home mom, bought
a business called Keep The Moment (New Zealand) LTD
and was crafting these gorgeous Baby Print kits. I
instantly fell in love with the product and the idea
of creating a wholly Canadian made version. We
struck up a licensing & royalty agreement and I took a year off and
spent 2005 establishing the product and company in
Canada.
In 2006 I was drawn back to my computer profession
and began spending less and less time with Keep The
Moment. When my wife became pregnant in 2007 I took
most of '08 off to raise our new baby boy. As a
result, I have spent little to no time on the
business and rather than let it continue to
languish, I am seeking to give the business to
someone who will have the passion and desire to move
it forward.
I am giving away the Canadian license rights,
intellectual property, and website free of charge to
the right person, and selling the substantial
inventory (Value $9,000) and major equipment (Value
$2,300) at below cost. Total asking $11,000.
This is your opportunity to own a REAL "Bricks 'n
Mortar" home based business.
Have a look at the kits on the website (but they
look even better in person) and if
you are genuinely interested in this remarkable
opportunity, please do not hesitate to contact me
for more information.
Sincerely
Martin Brown

Additional Information
I have let the company languish and
have de-registered all legal aspects of it. However,
Incorporation is not required as Keep The Moment could
be successfully operated as a sole proprietorship, the
most common form of home based business.

Information on Federally Incorporating in Canada
Information on Extra-provincially registering in BC
Information on Registering a GST/HST account
All major items are available in
inventory, but some small items are required to be
purchased before you can start creating and selling
kits.
I am based in Maple Ridge,
BC, Canada.

I bought this at a liquidation auction.
Previously used by a butcher. It is big (2ft x

problem with it.

KTM in
New Zealand does not sell retail online – only
wholesale to stores. While the margins are great
online, 95% of sales came from wholesale. So
setting up the website for online sales is not
something you need to do immediately as it will
not generate as much revenue as quickly as bulk
orders from stores.

Each different
component is ordered separately from a variety
of mostly Canadian wholesale suppliers, with one
or two in the States. I have attempted to use
local Lower Mainland suppliers where possible.
My records aren’t perfect, but I should be able
to provide you a list of (almost) all of them.
There are different levels of each component,
but there should be sufficient inventory to make
and sell approximately 400 kits before any major
ordering needs to be done.
Processes
I will be available to help setup and train you
in the operation of the business for a day on
your premises if in the Lower Mainland, and to
provide ongoing assistance via email after that.

I believe these sales are
but a taste of the potential which is significantly
greater. To my detriment, I never really cultivated
strong customer relationships or pushed the marketing
very hard. (It turns out I’m a computer guy at heart.) A
prime example of a good store for Baby Print Kits is
Little Crickets in Maple Ridge and Fort Langley. They
did about $1,000 a year of business with us and I
believe that finding and cultivating these small
$1,000/year customers across Canada is a prime
opportunity for KTM.
Since 2008, I
have turned down all orders and the kits are not in any
stores, but they have been in about 25. You could be up
and running in a very short time, and I am confident
that at least two of our old stores would immediately
place orders.
The Financials are available in a QuickBooks
professional file, but the actual QuickBooks software
has been misplaced.
There are no extraordinary monthly or annual costs,
apart from those required to maintain the basic
business. (EG. Fax/Voicemail, Domain Names, Web Hosting,
Cell Phone, Postage, Banking, Business License, Banking,
etc.) I have made it a point keep monthly/annual
costs as low as I can.
The license agreement with
Keep The Moment (New Zealand) LTD calls for a $1 royalty
payment per kit sold.

A $0.50 donation is made to the Children’s Wish
Foundation for each Baby Print Kit sold.
Assembly
All component pieces are
purchased separately in bulk and assembled into a kit.
Sub-components are batch assembled (50 to 100 units at a
time) to save time. When an order is received only the
final assembly is required, as per the orders mat board
and color requirements.
Below is a table of basic
assembly tasks and the average time required:

Space Required
A single work table and
closet with two sets of shelves was used for day to day
assembly operations.
A larger space (attic/basement) is used for storage of
larger quantities of inventory. (Plastic packaging
covers are light, but take up a lot of space.)
This could be comfortably operated in a spare bedroom or
garage.
